1. Do they cast it on Nova'd minions only or is that luck?
2. The rule of 3 triggers over 15 secs still applies. Death in PvE (especially with Minions) is common enough to not have to resort to blowing up your minions for energy purposes.
3/5. Did you ever look at how seldom BotM is used? The guys don't spam it - nor mid-, nor outside of battle. So you are primarily looking at BotM as a means of transporting the minions - something you end up microing many times. So if the point is to keep your minions alive - I'd really not go with a skill that kills my minions.

The AI could not run that build (or a similar good MM build) well.
